May ‘24 - Postpartum Wellness

To all mothers of every kind,

Mother’s Day is a time to celebrate all women, as we all are caretakers in some form, whether for children, pets, or plants. It's a reminder that to take care of others, we must first take care of ourselves. Acupuncture and herbal medicine can help restore balance and vitality, refilling your cup so you can keep pouring into others. Schedule an appointment for yourself or get a gift card for a mama in need of some healing and time to herself.

I want to share some tips for the critical fourth trimester as I have some friends with upcoming due dates! 🎉 The fourth trimester or the first forty days after birth is a significant period of transition for the mother, baby, and the whole family. Here are some practical tips and areas of focus to prep:

Rest and Recovery: Encourage ample rest and recovery for the mother, including plenty of sleep, relaxation, and avoiding strenuous activities.

Nutritious Diet: Emphasize a nourishing diet rich in nutrient-dense foods like soups, stews, and broths, tailored to replenish the body after childbirth and support breastfeeding.

Warmth and Comfort: Provide warmth and comfort through warm baths, herbal teas, and cozy surroundings, promoting relaxation and healing.

Support Network: Cultivate a supportive network of family and friends to assist with household chores, cooking, and caring for the newborn, allowing the mother to focus on self-care.

Emotional Well-being: Prioritize emotional well-being through open communication, self-reflection, and seeking support from loved ones or professionals if needed.

Gentle Movement: Encourage gentle movement and exercises, such as walking or yoga, to promote circulation, reduce tension, and aid in postpartum recovery.

Bonding with Baby: Foster bonding between the mother and baby through skin-to-skin contact, breastfeeding, and nurturing touch, promoting a strong emotional connection.

I recently found Mama Meals, a postpartum meal deliver service and shop. They are a family owned biz that was started by Holly, a mom of three, after she learned about traditional postpartum care through Chinese medicine, Ayurveda and Weston A. Price.

They use organic produce, regenerative meat and nutrient-dense bone broth to create warm, soft, healing meals which is exactly what a postpartum mama needs!

Everything is cooked, frozen, then delivered.  Simply heat and eat.

While their focus is postpartum recovery, any busy mom can appreciate this nourishing food and all the time saved cooking and cleaning.

I highly recommend checking them out for their meals but also shop their pantry for lactation cookies, hot coco mixes, and teas too! Use code LCW and get $20 off your first order of $200 or more!

Cheers to May and mothers new and old,

Erin

this month’s intention

📣 say it with me:

I am deserving of rest. It is productive for me to rest so I can keep showing up as the best version of myself.

⚡️ the challenge:

Design your week to have an intentional rest day. This means not getting all of your errands done, not cleaning, and not slaving in the kitchen (unless that fills your cup). A true rest day for you to fill your cup. For me, that is getting into the Word of God to fill up spiritually, and getting outside, soaking up the sun, and laughing to fill up my heart, usually take out or a meal I prepared ahead of time, and no doing the dishes. This takes planning and sometimes it doesn’t happen. But I know that the following week I am truly functioning at my best when I have an intentional rest day on my schedule.
